Hey guys! West Spring Alumni Blog had its first makeover... WSAlumni is still not yet a registered organisation, so if there is any thing that you might not like about WSAlumni, i would hereby apologise... We are still trying to make WSAlumni an organisation and only YOU can make it happen... this holiday (for polytechnic alumni) would be a good time for our WSAlumni to really set up... so, those who are interested to make it happen... do drop by your mail or msn Amanda at amandahuan@hotmail.com

"what are we gonna do?" you might ask... we will have a committee selection and thus from there, we will hold meetings on how we can get our EX-Students and Alumni back to our new school... i can understand that you all might not like to go back to school anymore due to matter of hair dye, new environments and people... I went back to school today and the pioneer banch of teachers misses us... i know how it feels like when you wanted to see the teachers but got stop for hair colours and had to go home... WSAlumni will get the rights for the pioneer banch of students...

1) those who have not recieved your card, do not panic. we will send the card ASAP
2)what you are recieving now is a temporary card, as WSAlumni is establishing, you will soon receive a better quality card
3)events will start to come up so, stay tune to here!

Remember, only YOU can make WSAlumni happen!

Poly year 2 for most of you is pretty hectic and i know ITE side a lot of rushing around etc.

okay. a quick update cause im having a headache.

march 14. tuesday. HOLIDAYS WEEK. ALL alumni members to attend the alumni-staff annual BBQ lunch organised by (the alumni.duh).

date: march 14 (tuesday)
time: 11.30 to 2pm.
place: west spring sec sch BBQ pit.

rules: no dyed hair. so go spray it black.

this event is to 'break the ice' between the new staff and the alumni.
allow them to know us and vice versa.
WSI committee must attend this event.

okay ive decided to blog longer since some of you ask for more DETAILED updates.

cause it seems mighty desolate here =(

anyways, another major event is up and i need alumni members to participate. i counted and ihave about 20 active members. if all 20 contact me asap i will be very happy =)

two meeting will be held. one for poly students. one for ite/jc students.

the AGM will be held between march - june.

only those who attend meetings and have paid the subsequent membership fees will be considered for the council positions.

hey all.

updates will come pretty quick for the next 2 months as several changes kick in.

the farewell ceremony was... full of tears. it's sad that mr singh has to leave. however, the alumni will give its full-fledged support to the new principal Mr Seet, who will step in as principal as of next year. and yes there will be a new VP. a female from riverside.

as november nears, the second intake of alumni members will begin.

some updates to look forward to;
- member cards. (i know. i've procrastinated long enough)
- second intake of alumni members.
- formation of alumni committee (wait for AGM first)
- talk for current sec 4 students (more details later)
- school event for next year.

anyone interested in organising anything or if you have any suggestions at all, just drop me a line asap.

sorry about the delay in posting.
a few matters to be addressed in this post.
firstly, kudos to all who attended the bbq.
secondly, the WSAlumni Achievement Awards (WSA3) will be given out to those who achieved 1st 2nd and 3rd in sec 1, 2, 3 normal technical streams. they will receive, 75, 50 , 25 cash respectively. these funds are taken from the wsidol fund. otherwise known as the events fund.

thirdly and more solemnly, mr harphal singh will be leaving west spring secondary school this year.
he has been posted to another secondary school.
a farewell event is to be held this friday 28/10/2005.
all alumni members are invited to do an item or to attend the event and send their best regards.
the event will take place in the morning.
for more details kindly contact mr khoo or myself directly.

the alumni will be giving a small token of appreciation for his works during the past 4/5 years.
credit to cheryl and shaun for the brilliant work that is on going.

anyways, here are some updates.
thanks to more of my sneaking around...
i've found some info. and some really cool news.

firstly, all alumni students ... you may use the library and the internet facilities to do ur stuff. projects blah blah etc.
BUT. first i gotta settle the members list first. OKAY ANYWAY , here comes the exciting part

due to some recent involvements a.k.a kaypohness on my part. i've managed to secure a yearly deal for the alumni.
every year, the alumni will get to experience wargame simulation via several mediums.
uh.. let me rephrase in.. easier to hear terms

we get to PLAY wargames using various techniques like ... constructive , VR (that's virtual reality) and.. it's ...all..free....
what's the catch?!

well.. confirm ur membership with me :P and pay the fee to mEEEEE .
flash taht nice black shiny card and submit ur name to me for this event and TADA! wargames will begin.

as told only to alumni president. (HA! I EAVESDROPPED! dont tell anyone!! shhhh...)
no one in school knows this yet, BUT yea, BBQ pits are gonna be built and all that kinda picnicky stuff. and yae, alumni allowed to use. and oh ya, the GYM is open for u guys too. just sign in at the office if u wanna use the facilities.
AND ONE MORE THING.
i need to settle / confirm alumni membership, it's ten bucks.. a year to cover admin fee, registration fee, the 'making-of-card' fee, and to cover ur charge for any event that u may participate or join in. put it this way, 10 bucks a year = unlimited entry to ANY wsss event as long as u flash ur ALUMNI card! :D and hey it'll be a proper card. not those .... paper sorta flimsy stuff.

anywayz, the blog has a new template! (obviously) well. credits to cherylz. she did this. :)

as most of you might know, the school is currently in its sports heats/day phase.

the heats are over. go check out the west spring official blog for pics.

the actual sports day is on the 6th april (if i'm not wrong.)

the alumni has been invited to participate in a race on that day. those interested may contact mr khoo, or contact me then i'll contact him :D

Release of results

On 28 february, the O lvl results were released.

On behalf of the entire alumni, i'd like to congratulate all those who did well.
For those who find that they did not do well, you've tried your best and that is an effort worth celebrating.

Anyways, please do make sure that you submit your JAE application asap.

From this moment on, all of us will be splitting up into our various institutions.
However, this does not mean that we should cease contact with one another.

If you can, make trips down to the school to simply visit and thank our teachers.
The alumni will continue to hold events and gatherings.
For anyone who wishes to publicise an event, you may tag at the tagboard OR email me and i'll blog it.

Well.. sorry that it's been a long time since i've updated this blog.

Valentines Day
let's see.. it was a moderate success. though since the alumni is still trying to get the hand of things.. well, yea, you'd consider it a success. anyway, we earned about... hundred plus i guess form the total sale of roses. job well done guys.

O Level Matters
Okay, now to address the matter at hand. first and foremost, that infamous MOE letter about teaching. okay i cannot guarantee facts on this blog. i can only well tell you what i have heard about it so far.

the letter, about teaching as a career, has been sent to selected students who have carved a niche in a certain subject area like music or languages. and it's been said that those who received the letter has an L1R5 of about average 17. okay. this could mean either that a) your L1R5 is 17-20 if u receive the letter or b) your L1R5 is about 14-18 . i am not confirmed about it.
secondly, please do not panick if you received the letter. i'm sure your o level results are .. okay.

okay. other o lvl matters. i'm sure ALL of you would have received a separate letter about JAE or Joint Admissions Exercise . which is.. well what you'll be doing with your o lvl results. okay. you'll need your SingPass. it's a special code that's been assigned to you. well.. if you dont have it, dont fret. you can either approach your local CDCs and get the code. please bring along your IC. or you can head down to the CPF building and get the code. similarly , bring along your IC.
ALTERNATELY, you can do it via online. simply key in the necessary details and wait for the letter to come with ur singpass. please keep that letter safely. the singpass retrieval website is at https://www.cpf.gov.sg/cpf_trans/ssl/SingPass_PINReq.asp

malcolm has delivered the goods to the school and I am pleased to announce that some teachers find the oranges tasty. :)

GATHERING
it's THIS SATURDAY. 10 am be there! at school. attire = casual.

VALENTINES' DAY
we've taken orders from school and now it's down to promoting it to the alumni members.
we are selling... a beautifully wrapped, live, single stalk, red rose at .... $5. okay, some of you may lament that it's expensive but please do consider that florists around the nation will be selling it at much higher prices on that day itself. we are also including some extra stuff with the rose so please do order from us. we will gladly deliver it for you provided it is within our means and that you provide the necessary info. those interested, please contact wanting at 90020163 OR amanda at 96272697. just sms us the number of stalks you need and some brief plan about how we are going to give you the roses.

ok, i'm sorry. i'm not too clear about this part but Malcolm, Sharon, LiJein is in charge of this area. (if i am not wrong) any details or if you have any suggestions or require any mandarin oranges, please do contact them. email me or msn me or sms me or call me (sheesh.) if you need their contacts.

VALENTINES' DAY
still in the process of pre-ordering roses and trying to source for inexpensive but nice candy. we are going to sell bouquets and sets of pre-packaged 'candy+rose' . Tentative price for now is about $3 for the 'candy+rose' and for single stalk of rose it's about $1.50 or $2. bouquets , well depends on the number of roses. check back for more info. if any one out there wants any of these gifts, please do contact me or zwanting.

all those waiting for o lvl results, just wanna remind you that it's just a month away! yet again, please do not get your hopes too high up and please be prepared for any kind of results as well, anything can happen. BUT please, do not attempt anything foolish. if you need any help/consultation/advice, please do not hesitate to approach the alumni teachers in charge. i am pretty sure they will be on hand to help you in any way.

The West Spring Alumni Blog is now officially up and running. If you have a blogsite, kindly provide a link to this blogsite. For information about upcoming alumni events or alumni on-goings, do kindly visit this blogsite which will be updated regularly (provided i remember to update).

The room is currently undergoing major 'renovation'. Anyone willing to donate stuff for the room, please kindly do so. If you have an items, just drop it off at school and give it to the teachers in charge of which they are Ms Waheeda, Ms Wee, Mr Gan and Mr Khoo. Kindly drop a note via tagboard.
